History
The university was founded on October 24, 1993 (Vijayadashami), and acquired a 9.7-acre (39,000 m2) campus property with two buildings in 2000. A residential facilitliy for full-time faculty was constructed in 2002. In 2009 the university reported it had 8,000 students taking courses either on campus or via the Internet. The university offers graduate level courses in the ancient language of Sanskrit, Hindu philosophy, yoga, ayurveda, jyotish medicinal chemistry.

Accreditation
The university states that it is accredited by the National Private Schools Accreditation Alliance.
