History
San José Professional Schools was founded by the Jesuits in October 1908 as a Free School of First Education and later as a Professional School, the popular "Schools of Fr. Muedra," until obtaining the current qualification of "Polytechnic Institute."
Today San Jose Schools joins the former School of San José and San José Professional Schools. The current aim of the school includes providing for students with special educational needs and forming "men and women for other." The offerings at the school include the Spanish categories of primary education, compulsory secondary education (ESO), specific special education, basic vocational training (FPB), baccalaureate, and middle and higher training cycles leading to a technician diploma.

Pastoral programs
Besides its sacramental programs, the school offers Christian living days away from school in the second trimester of the year. Also, "Campaigns" familiarizes students with the causes of poverty and the suffering it might entail. This includes testimonials, audiovisuals, and participation in campaigns organized by NGOs. A retreat during second year of baccalaureate has the objective of forming men and women for others, with reflection on experiences of helping others and with planning for life ahead. The school Solidarity Group involves 1st and 2nd year high school students in organizing school-wide campaigns and activities on behalf of the poor. Ignatian Week acquaints students with the history and work of the Jesuits and with Ignatian spirituality. In 2º Bachillerato there is a compulsory, weekly religion seminar with the objective of assisting in the integration of education with real-life decisions.
Since those in the vocational training program have less class study time, their pastoral program is more extensive. There is more emphasis on Christian living days. The students of Middle Degree have contact with those experiencing social marginalization, in collaboration with the social volunteer groups around Valencia with a wide range of possibilities for participation. In Values Training Campaigns they experience two-hour sessions with various groups such as Narcotics Anonymous and sessions on the prevention of gender violence and tobacco use. Campaigns also includes screening of films and conferences to provoke reflection on social values. In February there is a day of technical conferences, celebration of peace, sports, and feasting. A five-day Ignatian Way pilgrimage offers students reflection, adventure, and knowledge of the Society of Jesus. The role of tutors in offering help with personal problems is, if anything, taken more seriously with students in the vocational program. Students with learning problems are also identified and offered a specialized program of study.
Activities
Sports include football, basketball, swimming, tennis, paddleball, and yoga. In the school's extensive facilities,[9] supplementary activities are offered that have enrollment fees. These include classes in various sports: rythmatic gymnastics, tennis, basketball, paddleball, aerobics, indoor soccer, taekwondo, hip hop, and chess. Other activities one can enroll in include cooking and healthy eating, theater, Cambridge exam preparation, spoken English, study of the English-speaking world, learning English through games, music school, chorus, and study and games opportunities.
